Most likely your preschooler demonstrates some weather knowledge. Pointing out the clouds in the sky, saying the sun is making her hot, or putting on rain boots before going outside in a light shower are all indicators that your child is aware of different weather conditions.
One of the best things about using the calendar to teach about the weather is that it’s one of the few calendar activities you can practice wherever you go. We talk about the weather with Julia frequently, and randomly throughout the day I’ll ask her to look out the window just to tell me what she sees in the sky. She’s actually convinced that she can make it rain just by putting on her rain boots (it’s our rainy season now, so the odds are in her favor 🙂 ).
Here’s a cute little video you can share with your preschooler about the weather for today’s activity, along with talking about the weather – tomorrow we introduce our weather chart!
